Galentine’s Day is a thing. (And we’re glad.)

I’m super-psyched for Valentine’s Day! said no divorcing woman ever. We’re here to remind you that love takes many forms.

Taking our cue from Leslie Knope, our favorite public servant played by Amy Poehler on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, this year we’re full-on embracing Galentine’s Day.

Not familiar? Galentine’s Day takes place on February 13 and is a day for celebrating the love you have for your lady friends. As Leslie puts it:

"Uteruses before duderuses. Ovaries before brovaries."

During the episode she holds a party for her girlfriends, in which they hang out, exchange gifts, celebrate their friendship – and eat lots of waffles.

Basically, it’s a day dedicated to showering your friends with love and attention. We’re in. (We also think this can be expanded to kids, sisters, pets – and yourself!).

Judging from a recent trip to Target this week, Galentine's Day is definitely a thing:

So how can you make the most out of the day? Here are a few tips from the D-Squad:

  • Invite some friends over and serve breakfast-for-dinner (waffles are easy and keep to the theme). Or Barefoot Contessa's Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes never, ever disappoint.

  • Alternately, you can heat up some Trader Joe’s appetizers and pop some champs

  • Host a Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or Fleabag marathon...

  • Or a movie night at your place (go with something upbeat - not the time for Marriage Story!)

  • Don’t feel like hosting? Meet the girls at a cheap and cheerful restaurant you’ve been meaning to try...

  • Or go for a group mani-pedi session

Whatever you do, be good to yourself and remember Knope’s wise words: "I am a goddess, a glorious female warrior."

Sending our goddesses a lot of extra love this week. You got this!
